Coming soon to a church near you… Midweek Connect at Kerith Bracknell!
Helping people find their way back to God, through communities growing in their love for God and their love for people
Over the past months we have gathered together a team to look at how we can outwork our vision statement (above) into our midweek ready for the next season we feel God is calling us into as a church. We have been praying over a really fascinating report from the Bible Society — take a LOOK HERE. This report has highlighted what we are already seeing- people are really invested again in things of the Spirit and we want to create some opportunities for people to engage in new ways midweek, and possibly act as a stepping stone into our Sunday gathered expression of church.
As Sunday is a large gathering its often harder to be ‘seen and known’ in this environment so smaller communities and small groups are key in encouraging fellowship, discipleship and as a stepping stone into deeper relationship with Jesus and the Kerith community.
So as we head towards the Autumn term we wanted to combine a few elements of the feedback we have received and the things we have been learning, as we invite all of you with daytime capacity to join us for one or more of the elements.
Thursdays are the new Midweek Connect day.
As we have no Foodbank running on a Thursday and site pastors are in the office for oversight and support, it’s a good day to fill the building with a community morning. Take a look at the elements below- come for just the coffee & small group time or just the Lunchtime Lectio (great if you are working) or stay for the whole morning!
We have 2 other elements we’d like to draw into the ‘Midweek Connect’
PRAYER WARRIORS GROUP We have some incredible pray-ers in our community especially those of you who have seen God do miracles over the years! We’d love to gather a weekly community, whether online or in person to pray over the prayer cards that come in from a Sunday and church life in general—that we would ‘see God’s Kingdom come’ in Bracknell. This could be part of the Midweek Connect Thursdays as a hybrid group or at another time in the week.
‘BREATHE-OUT’ OPPORTUNITIES Midweek Connect is also a good opportunity to grow ministries to the refugee/international community in Bracknell with small groups meeting on the Thursday — maybe an English speaking cafe — or life skills courses and the like.
SO WHATS NEXT?
If you have a daytime lifestyle at present or are on a shift pattern that releases you some Thursdays then we would LOVE to hear from you! Fill in the expression of interest form and we’ll get you involved in the planning and let you know the launch timings in September.
On the form you can indicate you’d like to just come along ( and to which element) so we know predicted numbers but we’d especially like you to fill it in if you’d like to get involved in crafting an element of Midweek Connect Thursdays or the Prayer Group or be part of our ‘Breathe Out’ expressions.
The form gives you some tick boxes but you also have space to write in what you think you’d like to be part of.
Small groups will fit into our Small Group structure, overseen by Tom and Ida Astley.
Our plan is to gather interest over the summer and get people into roles before we start the ‘Midweek Connect’ term mid September.
We can’t wait to see what God will do through this new expression of community…
