Another Week of Prayer and Fasting kicks off on Monday 7th October

We have another opportunity to collectively focus our attention on God, and wait on Him to speak; speak both to us and into various situations that concern us. We get to posture ourselves for Him to mould our hearts through prayer this week together as a church.

Week of Prayer and Fasting

Starting on Mon 7th to Sun 13th October, with a Half-Night of Prayer on Friday the 11th, we'll have a different theme for each day of our Week of Prayer and Fasting and blog it daily so we can all be one in prayer. Themes will range in focus from international to national and local community; from ministries to work, school and play; and from family life to personal.

We'd love to encourage everyone to book an hourly slot via our 24/7 Prayer Room page (see this link) — and to be there either in-person or pray remotely, filling those slots up for the entire week. If you plan to pray from a separate location, we’d love for you to indicate that by typing in 'virtual' in brackets after your name in the appropriate field. You can also book the room exclusively, if you want to be there to pray on your own, or leave it unchecked if you’d love others to join you in prayer at the same time! (Here’s a quick video showing this, for booking in from either a computer or smartphone).

Here’s the prayer rhythm of the week:

  • Day 1, Monday, 7th Oct: Our world, international matters, politics & conflict

  • Day 2, Tuesday, 8th Oct: Our nation, it’s politics & social justice

  • Day 3, Wednesday, 9th Oct: Our local community, Bracknell town, schools, health & wealth

  • Day 4, Thursday, 10th Oct: Our local Church, ministries, small groups, finance, creating space for healthy

  • Day 5, Friday, 11th Oct: Our opportunities for evangelism and impact — like Christmastime!

  • Day 6, Saturday, 12th Oct: Our personal spiritual growth, emotionally healthy spirituality, family and home situations

  • Day 7, Sunday, 13th Oct: Our renewal, Sabbath rest, health and healing

Half Night of Prayer

We'll meet on Friday the 11th for a Half Night of Prayer on Friday from 7 pm -12 midnight in our K2 building (with 5 min coffee and comfort breaks to round off each hour focused on a subject of prayer).

Come along for the journey this week as we pray together as a community! lets see what God will do in and through us.

Some more… on Fasting

When Jesus instructs us saying, ‘when’ you fast — not ‘if’ we fast, we can imply that fasting is an expected and essential spiritual discipline. It’s a tool that helps us connect deeper with God spiritually than our flesh would normally allow. Beyond abstaining from food, fasting signifies a deeper reliance on God's presence, echoing Jesus' words that our lives are sustained not just by bread (or food in general), but by every word God speaks to us.
